(Peterborough) The Peterborough Green Party is pleased to announce our candidate for the upcoming October Provincial Election. Gary Beamish will stand for the Greens during local all candidates debates and media interviews.

(Toronto) Official campaigning for this year's Ontario election is underway, and the Green Party of Ontario launched its largest campaign in front of the Ontario Legislature in Toronto. Mike Schreiner, GPO Leader, said they plan to focus on jobs, energy and health. Read On

What makes Gary a qualified candidate?
For the past thirty years, Gary has worked as an income tax consultant with over 500 clients. During that time he served 2 terms on Campbellford's municipal town council as well as various local country and provincial boards. He also served on the OBIAA board advising the deputy minister of municipal affairs on small business policy. Most of his adult life he identified himslef as a supporter, member and contributor to the progressive conservative party in particular the "Green Cause" led at the time by Elizabeth May. When the P.C's ceased to be progressive he switched his support to the Greens.

For the past eight years he has been chair of the local chapter of Bereaved Families of Ontario, a group which offers free peer counselling to any one who as suffered loss of a loved one. In early 1989 his oldest son Reuben was diagnosed with cancer and for the next eleven years he home cared him until his death in late 1999.

As a consumer advocate, he formed a committee in Havelock and took on Bell Canada making them return over $100,000 as they had fraudulently billed former phone exchange of less than a thousand customers, an effort that got him a 10 minute interview on CBC news world!

Gary looks forward to spreading the Green Vision to Peterborough and area voters and his keen understanding of finance and small business make him an ideal candidate to explain the GPO fiscal plan.
